Ñ The Coastal Georgia Section held
a technical meeting on the campus of
Georgia Southern University. A guest
presenter from the Office of Materials
and Testing Technical Assistance
Unit at the Georgia Department of
Transportation spoke about the use of
the GSSI rolling density meter for the
compaction of asphalt roadways, as
well as the use of nondestructive testing
(NDT) for concrete pavement inspection.

Ñ The Greater Houston Section hosted
its February meeting at the Republic
Grill at Battleground Golf Course in Deer
Park. Dinner was followed by a technical
presentation on HTHA (high-temperature
hydrogen attack) inspection, given by
Mark Carte from Becht Engineering.

Ñ The Kuwait Section hosted a tech-
nical presentation and dinner at the
Kohinoor Hotel in KHS-4-Souksaba, given
by section officer Sangili Gunasekaran
on the basics of ASNT Recommended
Practice No. SNT-TC-1A (2024) and ANSI/
ASNT CP-189 (2024). Included in the
discussion among the members were
basic NDT 2024 changes, corrections,
and new requirements and explanation
and specific requirements of the time
of flight diffraction and phased array
ultrasonic testing techniques. In addition,
in-line inspection, magnetic flux leakage,
infrared thermography, acoustic emission
testing, and guided wave techniques
were discussed, as well as remote field
testing and eddy current testing differ-
ences, and profile and close proximity
radiographic testing techniques.

Inc.) in Portland and held a Zoom call
with the Pacific Northwest Section for
a discussion led by ASNT Director of
Business Development Peter Roy.
