The 2025 events season for the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT)
promises to be an exciting time for members and professionals alike. ASNT hosts
events to advance knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT), foster international
collaboration, and provide valuable educational experiences. These events offer
excellent opportunities to learn, connect with academic and industry leaders, show-
case accomplishments, and engage with the NDT community. Keep reading to

ADVANCED IMAGING
FOR NDT
In a world driven by technological evolu-
tion, the NDT industry is soaring to
new heights, unlocking unprecedented
insights into materials and structures with
the fusion of advanced imaging and artifi-
cial intelligence (AI) and machine learning
(ML). ASNT invites you to embark on a
journey into the future of NDT—a realm
where boundaries are pushed and
knowledge knows no limits. Join us at the
forefront of innovation as ASNT proudly
presents the Advanced Imaging for NDT
conference taking place in Virginia Beach,
Virginia, from 20–22 May.
This event provides a platform for
technical and industry presentations and
roundtable discussions designed to spark
imagination, encourage dialogue, and
drive new solutions. Advanced Imaging
for NDT is ideal for NDT practitioners,
educators, engineers, students, industry
leaders, and visionaries and entrepre-
neurs, and offers a platform for career
development regardless of where you
are in your career. Experience infor-
mative talks and live demonstrations
showcasing state-of-the-art NDT technol-
ogies, including computed tomography,
neutron radiography, metrology, laser
scanning and digital holography, eddy
current, infrared, digital radiography, and
those driven by AI/ML. Get a firsthand
look at the tools shaping the future of the
field connect with a diverse community
of experts, researchers, and practitioners
from across the globe and dig into case
studies and presentations that highlight
the practical applications of advanced
imaging and AI across various industries.
MFPT ANNUAL
CONFERENCE
ASNT is also hosting the Machine
Failure Protection Technology (MFPT)
Annual Conference in Virginia Beach,
Virginia, from 20–22 May. “Diagnostics,
Prognostics, and Failure Prevention
Where Theory Meets Practice” is the
event’s theme and sets the stage for an
immersive experience that bridges the
gap between cutting-edge theory and
real-world application.
This conference provides a platform
for networking, knowledge exchange,
and collaboration among professionals
with a shared interest in advancing the
field of MFPT. MFPT is ideal for engi-
neers and technologists industry prac-
titioners researchers and academics
decision-makers and executives govern-
ment and regulatory professionals data
scientists and analysts maintenance
and reliability professionals technology
innovators students and graduates and
consultants and service providers.

VIRGINIA BEACH,
VIRGINIA
The host hotel for both Advanced
Imaging and MFPT is located at the
exclusive northern end of the famous
Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Direct beach
access, outdoor pool, and upscale dining
are just a few of the great features you
can expect in the Oceanfront district, a
hub for hotels, dining, and entertainment.
The Boardwalk, a favorite local attrac-
tion, spans three miles and is 28 ft wide,
featuring restaurants and vendors along
the way. As you stroll, you’ll pass nautical
sculptures, including a 24 ft, 12 ton
bronze statue of King Neptune. Fish
at the Fishing Pier (no fishing license is
required), cruise on a fat-tire bike, or shop
along Atlantic Avenue. The VB Wave &
Bayfront Shuttle makes getting around
the Oceanfront easy.
Looking for some fun on the water?
Get up close to magnificent sea creatures
by kayaking with dolphins or hop on a
whale-watching cruise. Other adventurous
activities include parasailing and surfing,
or enjoy the more relaxing options of
boat tours or lounging on the beach. If
you want to take your fishing experience
up a notch, Miss Marisa Charters, a locally
owned boat, offers offshore deep-sea
fishing and wreck trip excursions.
Make plans to visit a piece of history—
the Cape Henry Lighthouse, the
fourth-oldest lighthouse in the country.
This lighthouse was the first federally
funded public works project by the US
government, authorized by President
George Washington himself. It was
also designated a National Historic Civil
Engineering Landmark by the American
Society of Civil Engineers in 2002.
Located within the Joint Expeditionary
Base Fort Story military base, the light-
house offers a full 360° view of the coast
from its lantern room. Since it’s within
a military base, be sure to review the
visiting guidelines at preservationvirginia
.org/historic-sites/cape-henry-lighthouse
to ensure a smooth trip.
Did you know Virginia Beach is home
to one of the world’s largest flying
collections of World War I and II military
aircraft? The Military Aviation Museum
covers over 100 acres with hangars,
exhibits, a control tower, and more. Many
of the museum’s planes are still flyable!
The museum hosts a showcase each
Saturday with unique lectures and flight
demonstrations starting 1 May if you’re
extending your stay.
Virginia Beach also offers a variety
of restaurants with outdoor seating,
perfect for enjoying a meal while soaking
up some vitamin D. The ViBe Creative
District is where culinary, music, and
other art forms collide. Take a walking
tour and explore the restaurants, coffee
shops, bakeries, and distilleries while
admiring the murals as you go. Soft-shell
crab will be in season (starting mid-April/
early May) during MFPT, arriving fresh
from Chesapeake Bay. Lightly fried, under
a poached egg, or on top of a bloody
Mary, it’s served in various ways at restau-
rants like Coastal Grill, Citrus, Rudee’s on
