INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA
The 2025 Research Symposium will be
held in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.
Attendees can look forward to experi-
encing a perfect blend of modern ameni-
ties and Midwestern charm at the Indiana
Convention Center, located in the heart
of the city’s vibrant downtown, along the
west fork of the White River.
Indianapolis, known as the “Crossroads
of America,” has a historic reputation as
a vital transportation hub, offering easy
access to other major North American
markets.
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail,
described as “the biggest and boldest
step by any American city” by Project
for Public Spaces in New York City, is
an internationally acclaimed 10.6-mile
biking and walking trail that connects all
six of the city’s Cultural Districts. From
Mass Ave to White River State Park and
Fountain Square, the trail provides a safe,
healthy, and convenient way to explore
the city.
The trail’s first expansion better
connected the Indiana Avenue cultural
district, linking to the front door of
the Madam Walker Legacy Center,
and created a new connection to the
Fall Creek Greenway and White River
Wapahani Trail. This expansion features
170 000 decorative pavers, 23 storm-
water planters, 13 benches, nine bike
racks, cultural interpretive panels, 8950
perennials and shrubs, 78 trees, and a
new traffic signal at the intersection of
Paca Street, St. Clair Street, and Indiana
Avenue.
The South Street Cultural Trail
expansion connects the Wholesale
and Fountain Square cultural districts,
enhancing access to near-Southside
neighborhoods and the Stadium Village
community. It also creates a beautiful
connection to key downtown landmarks,
including Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indiana
Convention Center, the Slippery Noodle
Inn, and the future White River expansion
of the Cultural Trail.
Indianapolis has several visitor-friendly
neighborhoods. The Canal and White
River State Park offer relaxing riverside
strolls, leading to attractions like the
Indiana History Center and the Eiteljorg
Museum of American Indians and
Western Art. Fountain Square is known
for its ethnic eateries, antique shops,
art galleries, and duckpin bowling—a
twist on traditional bowling with smaller
balls, lighter pins, and shorter lanes. The
Wholesale District greets visitors with
bright lights and bustling sidewalks,
offering world-class shopping, live enter-
tainment, and signature dining.
