Sara Frank joined
ASNT in March
as the Society’s
new Director of
Events. Frank is
an experienced
meeting and
event professional with more than 15 years
of expertise designing and delivering
experiences that are engaging, inclusive,
and community-building. Prior to joining
ASNT, Frank worked with the Northeast
HR Association, where she led a range
of impactful events. Frank is passionate
about creating events that foster mean-
ingful connections, enhance community
engagement, and provide a sense of
belonging. She is excited to support
the NDT community in advancing their
careers and contributing to a safer world
through ASNT’s events and programming.
Based in Massachusetts, Frank enjoys
spending time with her husband and
two kids, hiking, going to the beach, and
tackling DIY projects when she has time.

were honored
with the pres-
tigious 2025
Kurzweil Award
for High Impact
in NDE 4.0, which
they received in
March at the 3rd
International Conference on NDE 4.0 in
Bengaluru, India. The award, named after
renowned American futurist and inventor
Ray Kurzweil, recognizes individuals who
have made outstanding contributions
to the field of nondestructive evalua-
tion in the context of Industry 4.0. Singh
and Vrana have been instrumental in
driving the adoption and advancement
of NDE 4.0 technologies, shaping the
future of inspection and quality assurance
across industries.

Jeff Anderson
was announced
as the new
President
of Eddyfi
Technologies,
effective 24 March. Formerly the Senior
Vice President of Remote Monitoring
Solutions and Robotics, Anderson brings
extensive experience in general manage-
ment, operations, product development,
and business, with a notable background
at Waygate/GE/Baker Hughes and
Sensor Networks Inc. (SNI). Anderson has
been a member of the company’s Senior
Leadership Team since joining Eddyfi in
2023.
“I consider myself very lucky to be
able to be handed the torch and lead
this amazing team into a great, scalable
future,” said Anderson of his appoint-
ment. “I and the other owners at SNI
chose to sell SNI in 2023 to Previan
because the vision set by Martin Thériault
and the Previan group is extremely clear,
and the plan is solid. I am entrusted
to act as the head coach of Eddyfi
Technologies, and I am fully conscious of
the immense talent within our team and
the great potential that lies ahead.”
On 1 April,
Simpson
Gumpertz &
Heger (SGH)
(Waltham,
Massachusetts)
named Senior
Principal William (Bill) Bruin the new
Structural Engineering Region Head–
West, overseeing the structural and
marine engineering divisions in Oakland,
CA Los Angeles, CA Newport Beach,
CA Houston, TX and Denver, CO. In
this role, he also joins SGH’s Executive
Committee.
Bruin brings extensive experience in
risk consulting, structural engineering,
and project management across a
variety of industrial, offshore, and water-
front projects, primarily in the oil and
gas industry. His career has focused on
condition assessment, response evalua-
tion, risk identification, hazard mitigation,
due diligence assessments, and design
for a wide variety of onshore, near-shore,
and offshore structures and facilities.
He is also committed to advancing and
giving back to the profession. He is active
with several ASCE-COPRI committees
and initiatives and has traveled to disaster
locations for earthquake and tsunami
reconnaissance.
SGH Principal Rune Iversen will take
on Bruin’s former role as Structural
Engineering Division Head for the San
Francisco Bay Area. Iversen specializes in
coastal, floating, near-shore, and offshore
structures and facilities, with a focus on
inspection, condition assessment, reha-
bilitation, and design for mooring and
berthing systems and marine structures.
Joe Hoagland
was appointed
director of special
initiatives at the
US Department
of Energy’s Oak
Ridge National
Laboratory (ORNL) on 3 March after
more than 30 years at the Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA), where he led
strategic efforts in nuclear, coal, tech-
nology deployment, and resource
planning.
At ORNL, Hoagland will lead complex
initiatives requiring coordination across
science, operations, and multiple stake-
holders. ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle
for the DOE’s Office of Science.
Most recently TVA’s Vice President
of Innovation and Research, Hoagland
led projects supporting the Power
System of the Future. He also chairs the
Tennessee State Energy Policy Council
and serves on several energy-related
boards. He is an adjunct professor at the
Howard Baker School for Public Policy.
Hoagland holds a PhD and MS in phys-
ical chemistry from Washington State
University and a BS in chemistry from
Southern Utah University.
