The International
Federation
of Consulting
Engineers (FIDIC)
announced the
appointment
of Susanna
Zammataro as its new CEO, effective 1 May.
Zammataro previously served as Director
General of the International Road Federation
(IRF), based in Geneva, Switzerland.
FIDIC represents the global consulting
engineering industry, advocating for firms
that provide technology-based services
in the built and natural environments.
Its membership includes around 100
national associations, representing over
a million professionals and 40 000 firms.
The sector contributes over US$36 trillion
to global GDP.
Zammataro brings 25 years of expe-
rience across international organizations,
the public and private sectors. At IRF, she
led governance reforms and financial
stabilization and member engagement
initiatives, while championing road safety
and sustainability worldwide. Her leader-
ship has fostered high-level partnerships
with governments, multilateral develop-
ment banks, and global institutions such
as the UN and EU.
Her previous roles include work at UN
Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on
trade and investment agreements, and
at the European Commission. She holds
a master’s degree in European law from
the College of Europe with a background
in political science and international rela-
tions. Zammataro will be based at FIDIC’s
headquarters in Geneva.
APPOINTMENTS
ASNT member Mark Bennett started a new posi-
tion as Technical Instructor at the Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology in Troy, Ohio, in March.
In March Donovan Lefler joined Test
Equipment Distributors LLC as an NDT Service
Technician in Illinois.

Ñ The Charlotte Section held the 2nd
Annual Sonaspection ASNT-AWS Golf
Tournament &BBQ with the American
Welding Society (AWS) at the Rocky River
Golf Club, an event to help raise money
for the local elections of ASNT and AWS.
The tournament and AWS-sponsored
barbecue were followed by a presen-
tation on “Ongoing Challenges with
NDE Documentation and How EPRI Is
Addressing This” given by Tom Sambor,
the area lead for pressure parts (boiler/
piping/HRSG) at Electric Power Research
Institute (EPRI). Donations were also
accepted for the Paul Zayicek Memorial
Scholarship at Central Piedmont
Community College.

Ñ The Greater Houston Section hosted
its March meeting at the Republic Grill at
Battleground Golf Course in Deer Park.
Dinner was followed by a presentation,
“Introduction to Women in Mechanical

Ward from Women in Mechanical
Integrity (WiMI).

Ñ Curtiss Wright’s LMT business unit
hosted the Minnesota Section meeting at
the company’s new facility in Hutchinson.
Jeremy Timm of LMT gave a presenta-
tion on how they provide NDE inspec-
tion services to nuclear facilities in the
US, Europe, and South Africa. He also
discussed small modular reactors (SMRs)
and their potential to help relieve power
demands in the future. Gary Fuechtmann
gave a technical presentation comparing
the total focusing method (TFM), plane
wave imaging (PWI), and full matrix
capture (FMC) in phased array ultrasonic
testing.

The Minnesota Section toured Curtiss Wright’s new LMT facility in Hutchinson during its January meeting. The tours included
demonstrations of multiple advanced ultrasonic proprietary automated scanning systems as well as a conventional phased array
manual ultrasonic pipe inspection.
