Recognition for Sustained Excellence
winner Gary Georgeson is the owner
of Georgeson Consulting LLC, which
he founded in 2020 after retiring from
the Boeing Co. as their Senior Technical
Fellow in Nondestructive Evaluation
(NDE) and Measurement. His firm offers
NDE-related engineering, market anal-
ysis, product development, and training,
including through Boeing’s Ed Wells
Partnership. With a 35-year career in
NDE, Georgeson holds over 400 US
and 200 international patents in NDE,
composites, and automation. He has a
PhD in materials science and mechan-
ical engineering and earned his MS and
BS in mechanical engineering from the
University of California, Santa Barbara.
Georgeson’s innovations have
supported numerous commercial and
military aircraft programs and led to
major NDE research initiatives funded by
the US Air Force, Navy, NASA, and the
FAA. Georgeson is an ASNT Fellow (class
of 2016), former chair of the Research
Council, and recipient of the Robert C.
McMaster Gold Medal Award, Research
Recognition for Innovation Award, and
Mentoring Award. A frequent keynote
speaker, he has promoted NDE globally,
including in Spain, Singapore, Germany,
Brazil, China, and France. Additionally,
he has an MA from Fuller Theological
Seminary (Pasadena, CA) and has served
as a Christian pastor for more than 40
years.
GREGORY GARCIA

Excellence Award winner Gregory
Garcia is a senior NDT Level III engineer-
manager for EVRAZ North America in
Pueblo, Colorado. He has a BS in metal-
lurgy from the University of Southern
Colorado and has over 40 years of
experience in metallurgy and NDT. He
is an ASNT NDT Level III, ASNT Fellow
(class of 2011), and a recipient of the
2021 ASNT Mentoring Award. He is
chair of the Engineering Council and the
Accreditation Committee. Other ASNT
involvement includes serving on the
Research Council, Section Operations
Council, and as a director on the ASNT
Board of Directors (2016–2019).
Garcia is a US Marine Corps veteran.
He has worked for the US government,
aerospace, railroad, and steel produc-
tion industries, and as a guest lecturer
teaching courses in NDT at Colorado
State University–Pueblo. He is recog-
nized as a subject matter expert in NDT
and has authored/co-authored over 50
publications. He is an active member of
ASNT and AREMA Committee 4–Rail,
where he is the vice chair of Committee 4,
Subcommittee 8 on Nondestructive
Inspection of Rail. He holds a US patent for
detecting transverse cracks in rail heads
using low-frequency eddy currents.

HOW TO APPLY FOR
THE ENGINEERING
UNDERGRADUATE
SCHOLARSHIP
The ASNT Foundation Engineering
Undergraduate Scholarship is designed to
support undergraduate students who are
pursuing degrees in engineering with a focus
on nondestructive testing. Undergraduate
students enrolled in a college or university
with a recognized engineering department
program at the time the scholarship applica-
tion is submitted are eligible. Each potential
candidate must show their anticipated gradu-
ation date to be later than the date the award
funds are to be distributed. Candidates must
also show an active interest in the field of
nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT/E).
Applications will be accepted starting
31 August 2025 and must be received before
31 January 2026. The nomination must
include official school transcripts showing
all completed coursework, an outline of the
student’s program of study, and three letters
of support from faculty. Applicants must
also submit an original essay (500 words
maximum) that clearly articulates their famil-
iarity with NDT/E, any previous education in
NDT/E, future contributions they anticipate
making in NDT/E, and how the scholarship will
provide them an advantage to further their
career in NDT/E. Funding for the award will be
US$3000 per award for up to three awards
per year. Funds for the award will be made
available at the time of the 2026 ASNT Annual

ASNT CEO Neal
Couture, FASAE,
CAE, has been
named Secretary/
Treasurer of the
2025–2026 Board
of Directors for
the Council of Engineering and Scientific
Society Executives (CESSE). Announced
in July, the new board is comprised of
STEM society leaders who will work
together over the next year to advance
CESSE’s mission and strategic priorities.
CESSE, incorporated in 1977, is a
professional society of CEOs and mid- to
senior-level staff members of STEM soci-
eties dedicated to leadership excellence.
CESSE offers its members a forum for
exchanging information about their expe-
riences and a venue for addressing the
problems, challenges, and opportunities
they face in operating their societies.
Couture brings long-standing involve-
ment in STEM associations and will help
guide CESSE’s financial and strategic
planning. He has also previously served
as a Director-at-Large.
Caroline
Gierschick
was promoted
to Program
Manager,
Membership &
Engagement
at ASNT, effective 1 July. In this role,
Gierschick will lead member and volun-
teer initiatives including ASNT sections,
honors and recognitions, and career
development. As the primary liaison for
ASNT’s volunteer leaders and sections,
she will foster collaboration and help to
enhance the overall member experience.

partners alike. She also plays a vital role
in supporting ASNT’s technical and plan-
ning committees. LeMasters joined ASNT

roles.

Shokouhi,
PhD, PE, was
honored with
an Outstanding Teaching Award given
by the Penn State Engineering Alumni
Society (PSEAS) at its annual awards cere-
mony on 20 June. Shokouhi, a professor
of engineering science and mechanics,
acoustics, and civil and environmental
engineering at the university, received
the prestigious award that recognizes
outstanding educators for excellence in
teaching and for contributions to the art
of teaching.
Effective 1 July,
David Walton
was promoted
to Web Content
Engineer at
ASNT—a dynamic
role merging
web content management with technical
content engineering and information
architecture. Walton will play a key role in
enhancing digital experiences, supporting
global education initiatives, and integrating
AI-driven content delivery. He will also
work closely with the Education Program
Manager and Instructional Designer to
help develop localized content, especially
as ASNT expands globally. Walton began
at ASNT as Web Content Manager in
September 2022.
Creaform, a
business of
AMETEK Inc. and
a global provider
of automated
and portable 3D
measurement
solutions and engineering services, has
appointed Martin Jomphe as Division
Vice President (DVP) of Creaform
Engineering and Crank Software, effec-
tive 5 June. In this role, Jomphe will
lead both teams, combining expertise
in engineering services and embedded
graphical user interface (GUI)
development.
Jomphe brings more than 20 years of
experience in engineering management
and strategic planning. He has been
instrumental in the growth of Creaform
Engineering Services, where he helped
develop the division’s strategic direction
and doubled its revenue while serving as
Business Development Manager. In 2022,
he moved to Crank Software to lead its
efforts in embedded GUI development
for industries such as home automation
and automotive, supporting R&D teams
in accelerating product development.
As DVP, Jomphe will be responsible
for strategy, operations, and revenue
across both organizations. His focus will
be on aligning capabilities and lever-
aging shared expertise to improve service
delivery and support future growth.
