Beginning in 2025, ASNT is moving to a digital-first membership model. The key
change is that Materials Evaluation will no longer be printed and mailed monthly to
all members. Instead, members will have full digital access to the journal through
ASNT’s online platform at source.asnt.org.
WHY IS ASNT MAKING THIS CHANGE?
The ASNT Board of Directors approved
this decision based on three main factors:
Ñ Rising production costs. Paper,
printing, and mailing costs have
increased by 3%–7% annually.
Ñ Environmental sustainability. A
digital model significantly reduces
paper consumption and shipping
emissions.
Ñ Improved access. Digital delivery
eliminates postal delays, ensures
reliable access, and expands
usability.

receive an email notification when a new
issue is available. As a Professional or

COMING?
In late 2025, ASNT will introduce a
new dedicated website for Materials
Evaluation as well as an interactive flip-
book that will enable an enhanced reader
experience, new advertising options, and
improved analytics. We also plan to make
the full historical archive available, back to
our first issue in 1942.
CAN I STILL GET A PRINTED VERSION OF
MATERIALS EVALUATION?
Yes. If you prefer a printed copy,
ASNT members in the Professional or
Professional Plus categories can add a
print subscription to their membership.
The cost is $49/year (US) or $89/year
(international). This includes upgraded
delivery for international subscribers.
HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE TO THE PRINT
EDITION?
Log in to your MyASNT account at
asnt.org and select the Materials
Evaluation print option under
My Subscriptions, then complete the
payment process. (Please allow 6–8

GARY GEORGESON
2025 Robert E. Green Jr. Research
Recognition for Sustained Excellence
winner Gary Georgeson is the owner
of Georgeson Consulting LLC, which
he founded in 2020 after retiring from
the Boeing Co. as their Senior Technical
Fellow in Nondestructive Evaluation
(NDE) and Measurement. His firm offers
NDE-related engineering, market anal-
ysis, product development, and training,
including through Boeing’s Ed Wells
Partnership. With a 35-year career in
NDE, Georgeson holds over 400 US
and 200 international patents in NDE,
composites, and automation. He has a
PhD in materials science and mechan-
ical engineering and earned his MS and
BS in mechanical engineering from the
University of California, Santa Barbara.
Georgeson’s innovations have
supported numerous commercial and
military aircraft programs and led to
major NDE research initiatives funded by
the US Air Force, Navy, NASA, and the
FAA. Georgeson is an ASNT Fellow (class
of 2016), former chair of the Research
Council, and recipient of the Robert C.
McMaster Gold Medal Award, Research
Recognition for Innovation Award, and
Mentoring Award. A frequent keynote
speaker, he has promoted NDE globally,
including in Spain, Singapore, Germany,
Brazil, China, and France. Additionally,
he has an MA from Fuller Theological
Seminary (Pasadena, CA) and has served
as a Christian pastor for more than 40
years.
GREGORY GARCIA
2025 Ward Rummel Engineering
Excellence Award winner Gregory
Garcia is a senior NDT Level III engineer-
manager for EVRAZ North America in
Pueblo, Colorado. He has a BS in metal-
lurgy from the University of Southern
Colorado and has over 40 years of
experience in metallurgy and NDT. He
is an ASNT NDT Level III, ASNT Fellow
(class of 2011), and a recipient of the
2021 ASNT Mentoring Award. He is
chair of the Engineering Council and the
Accreditation Committee. Other ASNT
involvement includes serving on the
Research Council, Section Operations
Council, and as a director on the ASNT
Board of Directors (2016–2019).
Garcia is a US Marine Corps veteran.
He has worked for the US government,
aerospace, railroad, and steel produc-
tion industries, and as a guest lecturer
teaching courses in NDT at Colorado
State University–Pueblo. He is recog-
nized as a subject matter expert in NDT
and has authored/co-authored over 50
publications. He is an active member of
ASNT and AREMA Committee 4–Rail,
where he is the vice chair of Committee 4,
Subcommittee 8 on Nondestructive
Inspection of Rail. He holds a US patent for
detecting transverse cracks in rail heads
using low-frequency eddy currents.

HOW TO APPLY FOR
THE ENGINEERING
UNDERGRADUATE
SCHOLARSHIP
The ASNT Foundation Engineering
Undergraduate Scholarship is designed to
support undergraduate students who are
pursuing degrees in engineering with a focus
on nondestructive testing. Undergraduate
students enrolled in a college or university
with a recognized engineering department
program at the time the scholarship applica-
tion is submitted are eligible. Each potential
candidate must show their anticipated gradu-
ation date to be later than the date the award
funds are to be distributed. Candidates must
also show an active interest in the field of
nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT/E).
Applications will be accepted starting
31 August 2025 and must be received before
31 January 2026. The nomination must
include official school transcripts showing
all completed coursework, an outline of the
student’s program of study, and three letters
of support from faculty. Applicants must
also submit an original essay (500 words
maximum) that clearly articulates their famil-
iarity with NDT/E, any previous education in
NDT/E, future contributions they anticipate
making in NDT/E, and how the scholarship will
provide them an advantage to further their
career in NDT/E. Funding for the award will be
US$3000 per award for up to three awards
per year. Funds for the award will be made
available at the time of the 2026 ASNT Annual
