Waygate Technologies’ chief technology and strategy officer, Arungalai Anbarasu, was recognized as one of the “10 Most Inspiring Women Leaders to Follow in 2022” in the February 2022 issue of Insights Success magazine. Arungalai and her team are spearheading the company’s evolu- tion into a digital inspection solutions (DIS) space. As a mother of a 7-year-old daughter, she is also passionately keen on promoting STEM women, making the world a better place. In the interview, she advises fellow women leaders to create a vision, develop a plan, and execute it with perseverance to achieve outcomes to benefit the industry and environ- ment while pushing the boundaries of technology. Stephen D. Fantone, Optikos Corp. president and CEO, has been elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). The prestigious honor is among the highest professional distinctions for an engineer. Fantone was recognized by the NAE for “contributions to optical engineering and the development of optically based products and metrology systems.” He is among 111 newly elected members and 22 international members identified for their outstanding contributions to the field. Ehsan Dehghan-Niri, assistant professor at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and an associate technical editor for Materials Evaluation, received the award for excellence in research from NMSU. Since joining the NMSU faculty four years ago, Dehghan-Niri has been awarded US$4.76 M as principal investigator and US$1.6 M as coprincipal investigator of research grants and contracts and has published nine peer-reviewed journal articles. Rebecca Rudolph has been named the incoming president of the Nondestructive Testing Management Association (NDTMA). NDTMA is a nondestructive testing trade association that was formed more than 50 years ago to provide a forum for the open exchange of managerial, tech- nical, and regulatory information critical to the successful management of NDT personnel and activities. APPOINTMENTS ASNT member Jeffrey Lattea has joined American Piping Inspection, a full-service pipeline inspection company, as an NDT area manager. Simon Patterson has been appointed chief commercial officer at Novosound, joining from Innospection in Aberdeen to drive the remote sensor specialist’s UK and international growth strategy. An MSc graduate in materials chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, Patterson has spent the last decade working in senior commercial roles at companies servicing global energy and industrial markets, including Aker Solutions and TechnipFMC. Katie Fergus has also joined the company, joining from Crux Production Design in Bristol. Fergus, who was previously at global electronics group Philips, is now on board as a project manager where she will work closely with a number of Novosound’s customers. Also, Karen Robertson, who joined Novosound as a production manager in 2020, has been promoted to operations manager. Randy Jones has joined Sensor Networks Inc. as the West Coast Manager, NDT Engineer/ASNT NDT Level III. Sensor Networks Inc., headquartered in State College, Pennsylvania, specializes in ultra- sonic and remote visual technologies. Dalton Vidosh of ASNT International Service Center has been promoted to Senior Accountant. Sina Zamen, a 2020 ASNT Fellowship Award winner, has joined Paramount (formerly known as ViacomCBS) as a data scientist. Paramount delivers content to audiences across platforms worldwide. Composites One announced that it has named Leon Garoufalis president and chief executive officer. Al Dobbeck has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer. MILESTONES Curtiss-Wright’s Nuclear Division announced that a member of its engi- neering staff is among the group of engineers recently named Curtiss-Wright Technical Fellows in recognition by Curtiss-Wright Corp. for their commit- ment to technical excellence. Recipients of Technical Fellow Program honors are selected for exhibiting the pinnacle of engineering capability and expertise in their field of study. The following Curtiss- Wright Nuclear Division subject matter expert (SME) was named Technical Fellow: J. Fred Hall, Senior Director of NDE Programs, an expert in nondestruc- tive examination and nuclear plant in- service inspection. Hall is recognized as an SME within the organization and within the field of nondestructive testing. SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has announced SPIE Fellow Paul F. McManamon as the 2022 winner of the Joseph W. Goodman Book Writing Award for his 2019 SPIE Press book, LiDAR Technologies and Systems.
