HOW DO YOU VOLUNTEER?
I first volunteered to help on the
newsletter/yearbook committee
for the Greater Houston Section.
Soon thereafter, I was sitting on
the scholarship and golf tourna-
ment committees for the Section.
Before long, I was nominated as a
director-at-large, served as treasurer,
vice chair, and chair of the Section
before being appointed as chair
of the ASNT Section Management
Division of the Section Operations
Council (SOC), before finally
ending up where I am now, chair
of the SOC. Whew! To date, I have
volunteered for nine years, served
on five section committees, and
three ASNT committees, as well as
served in six section positions and
two national positions.
WHAT’S THE BEST
THING ABOUT
VOLUNTEERING?
Like many others in our industry,
I didn’t know what nondestruc-
tive testing (NDT) was. Once I
realized the importance of NDT
and the benefits provided by
ASNT, I was moved to not only tell
everyone about it, but also how
they could get involved. Over the
years, I’ve had the opportunity
to meet students learning NDT
and to help others move into the
industry. This, by far, has been
the most rewarding part of volun-
teering for the Society. And there
is also the added bonus of the
amazing people you meet who
are also so passionate for our
profession and our Society!
WHEN I’M NOT WORKING
OR VOLUNTEERING, I’M…
planning my future with my new
wife! Moving into this next chapter
of our lives has already been so
rewarding and we’re not even a
month into our marriage. 10/10
recommend!
MY FAVORITE ASNT
MEMBER BENEFIT IS:
The Society provides so many
benefits to its members, from ship-
ping and medical insurance, to
continuing education and career
opportunities. But in my unbiased
(yet totally biased) opinion, it’s the
sections! The opportunity to meet
with local NDTers in an informal
and fun atmosphere is reason
enough for me to continue my
ASNT membership nine years in.

Nolan, Pudge, Ollie, Charlie,
and Milo my five rescue dogs!
If I got to choose a sixth random
thing, it would be the 2023 World
Champion Texas Rangers.

I am deep into the One Chicago
Universe (Fire, PD, Med). Thankful
an agreement has been reached
between the unions and produc-
tion companies so I can get into
some new episodes!
