CALL FOR TECHNICAL
RESEARCH PAPERS
AND ARTICLES FOR
2026 THEMED ISSUES
Materials Evaluation invites submissions
spotlighting four priority areas that are
shaping nondestructive testing (NDT/
NDE) across multiple industry sectors:
Ñ NDT for Composites &Additive
Manufacturing
Ñ AI, Robotics, and Digital Imaging for
NDT
Ñ Advanced Ultrasonics (PAUT/TFM/
FMC, Guided Waves, Thickness and
Weld Integrity)
Ñ NDT for Infrastructure (rails, bridges,
pipelines, energy, maritime, civil)
We welcome peer-reviewed research
papers and applications-oriented tech-
nical articles that demonstrate measur-
able progress—new methods, validated
results, deployment lessons, and repro-
ducible workflows.
Submission categories:
Ñ Research Paper (peer-reviewed): up
to 5000 words clear methods, novel
results, and literature review.
Ñ Technical Article/Case Study (edito-
rial review): 2000–3000 words
deployment lessons, ROI, procedure
tuning, and QA.
Ñ NDT Tutorial (editorial review): 1500–
3000 words provides an overview
of NDT fundamentals or a high-level
overview of new or emerging tech-
nologies. Does not require original
findings.
Ñ Review Paper (peer-reviewed):
synthesize and summarize existing
research on a specific topic,
analyzing and evaluating past work
rather than presenting new data,
often identifying trends, gaps, and
future research directions.
Submissions must be noncommercial
and should focus on NDT applications.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
ASNT RESEARCH
SYMPOSIUM
The next ASNT Research Symposium
will take place 20–24 July 2026 in Salt
Lake City, Utah. Make plans now to
participate in the premier forum for the
exchange of advances in nondestructive
evaluation (NDE).
The theme for the symposium,
“Collaboration,“ highlights the power of
working across boundaries to advance
the science and practice of NDE. The
future of NDE depends on meaningful
partnerships—among researchers, practi-
tioners, and professionals from adjacent
fields such as data science, aerospace,
materials engineering, and beyond.
Through collaboration, we can unlock
new methods, technologies, and insights
that strengthen the entire community.
The ASNT Research Council Program
Committee seeks the following
proposals:
Ñ Technical papers
Ñ Student poster presentations
Ñ Panel discussions
Ñ Industry presentations
Ñ Work-in-progress presentations
Proposals should:
Ñ Address important research
questions
Ñ Increase the knowledge and skills of
scholars and industry professionals
Ñ Promote the development of the
NDE profession
Ñ Showcase methodological rigor
Ñ Be 20 minutes in length
Submission requirements:
Ñ Title (20-word maximum
recommended)
Ñ Session selection/topic (Note: most
session topics have been confirmed)
Ñ All organizational affiliations
Ñ Presenting author and all coauthors
Ñ Presenting author biography
(100 words or less)
Ñ Presentation short description:
50 words or less to be used in the
mobile app and online agenda
Ñ Minimum 300-word abstract.
Submitting authors have the option
to submit a two- to four-page
proceedings paper to be consid-
ered for presentation. Accepted
proceedings papers will be included
in the conference proceedings and
have the option of being published,
open access, with a DOI number.
Abstract-only submissions will not
be published.
